Comfort From Glasgow
Welcome my fellow foodies, this is my first blog on Travel, Taste, Repeat. Within the blog, we offer a variety of food reviews so please tuck in and get ready for your hearts and more importantly your taste buds. Here we will dive deep into the local food spots in and about Glasgow. Glasgow has a renowned reputation for its well-cultured and diverse food selection. Two locations I have picked are Shawarma King and Pho 79.
Shawarma King
First, we start strong with the award-winning kebab house in Scotland aka Shawarma King, located in the city centre. The tantalising aroma of roasted chicken and the scent of charred lamb meat met me even before I passed the door, giving me a welcome entrance to Middle Eastern cuisine. Arriving at 14:35, I thought I'd beat the lunchtime rush, but to my surprise, the place was packed with eager diners. 'Are you in the queue?' reverberated in our ears long before we held onto our sought-after shawarma.
As we neared the checkout, our excitement mounted, and with shawarma in hand, the moment of truth had arrived. The first mouthful I took was nothing short of spectacular. The flavours exploded in my mouth like fireworks, leaving me speechless.
Pho 79
Save the best for last, for our final stop, Pho 79, will take you on a pleasant journey to the heart of Vietnam right in St Enoch Centre. The decor is stunning, with the well-known "beckoning lucky cat" and charming red lanterns that produce a cosy glow, adding a genuine touch to your dining experience. It is the skill of transforming the most basic elements into absolute excellence. Consider a rich bone broth that pairs nicely with an earthy combination of cilantro, fresh mint, and crisp bean sprouts. Then there's the discovery of beautifully cut, tender beef and wonderfully cooked rice noodles, which combine to make one of my favourite dinners of all time. It's the type of comfort cuisine that will make your taste buds dance. So, go no farther than pho if you're looking for warmth, comfort, and an amazing dining experience.
