Chi-town Finds

Chicago is also known as the windy city, Chi-town and Chiraq. Chicago is the third largest city in the States and is home to the creation of the in famous deep-dish pizza which has then began to diverge into squared pizzas where it is loved by locals. My cousin and I embarked on a quest to experience the rich and long-established Ricobene’s as well a visit to Smoque BBQ in Chicago.

Ricobene’s

Ricobene’s has been around since 1946 and since then they have been known for many of their popular dishes including their pizza, steak sandwich and chicken wings. However, on this particular visit, our eyes were set on Chicago’s iconic staple - the breaded steak sandwich. today we were on the move for Chicago’s staple dish the breaded steak sandwich. Once again with many of my reviews, the venue was packed, resulting in a longer wait than we had anticipated.Although it was all worth it in the end as the wonderful Sally offered a medium deep-dish pizza to compensate for the wait. This overall, made me feel more positive about this restaurant. hearty bread. When the breaded steak sandwich arrived, it was a sight worth seeing.  The nicely breaded and cooked steak was neatly folded to match the bedding of the bread. Every bite served us an embrace of Italian tomato sauce, the oozy mozzarella cheese, and the cosy, soft, and substantial bread. The flavours blended well, producing a wonderful taste. It became clear why Ricobene's has such an excellent name not only in Chicago, but throughout the United States.

Smoque BBQ

Heading to the north of Chicago, we had to try what was the “talk of the town”. Many people we had asked suggested we try Smoque BBQ. We had one dish in mind which was the beef brisket sandwich. This came with Cole slaw and macaroni cheese which I have picked from. Both the sides were very good and had the expectation of what a coleslaw and Mac and cheese should be. The star of the meal, however, was the brisket sandwich. Each bite revealed its excellence, with the brisket falling to bits effortlessly by the bite. The flavour was a spice symphony. The speciality of this brisket is from their secret spice rub used to smoke for over 12 hours. Smoque BBQ was a perfect 10 for me, hitting my taste buds in every way. It is unquestionably a location that makes any trip to Chicago worthwhile.
